When Google’s Caffeine was still under its testing phase, the Internet giant said that it has ramped up efforts in providing faster speeds, better accuracy and understandability of each search result.
Martin McNulty, a search engine marketing (SEM) specialist from Traffic broker, thought of the upgrade as a direct threat to steal the limelight from Microsoft’s Bing and said, “Google have let Caffeine quietly slip out. It talked about vertical specific searches while quietly doubling the speed and starts introducing real-time results and news feeds.”
“Bing was launched with a massive media budget. Trouble is, Bing presents itself as an alternative to something that users are still – for now – happy with,” he further said.
Despite Microsoft’s increased marketing efforts with Bing, Google Search still dominates the search engine market.
Hitwise, a leading market research firm, the market of search engines has continuously increased queries in the last few months, including Microsoft’s Bing – a combined effort with Yahoo, an upgraded Ask Jeeves and the “computational knowledge engine” Wolfram Alpha.
New competitors even include Facebook, currently the biggest rival to Google’s online share and the largest online social network, which acquired FriendFeed, a highly valued real-time search engine.
